Overweight, Out of Shape, Dissatisfied With Your Body: How to Make Meaningful and Lasting Change (Starting With Mindset)

We can be our own worst enemy, can’t we?  The messages we tell ourselves about our bodies, our lives, and our selves can be brutal.  Before I go any further with the question of weight loss, let me just start by saying you are enough.  Good enough, right-sized enough, just fine the way you are enough.  Truly!  If you want to lose weight–a little or a lot–it helps to have a support system and a plan.  It also is really important to check the story you tell yourself about your worth, your health, and your size.

The first step in any weight loss or fitness journey is to get the mean messages out of your brain.  As a TCM practitioner and as a health coach, I can help people either to lose weight in an affirmative and respectful way or to become healthier at the weight that they are, no change necessary.  I can help you to look and feel your very best no matter your size or shape.  The first step in that process, though, is to focus on self-kindness.  If you don’t have it in you to be kind to yourself at first, that’s ok.  I can be kind to you for both of us.

If you feel that you are overweight, I can help you.  If you think that  you are out of shape and not as toned as you would wish to be, I can guide you in the right direction to change that.  If you have an unduly self-critical attitude towards your body, then working with me can definitely do something for you if you want to alter that pattern.

When I was in my first graduate program I worked as a strength training consultant to have an excuse to put down my books and interact with people.  I’ve helped all ranges of sizes and shapes get healthier and more fit.  As a certified health coach and, now that I’ve completed my program in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), I can help you to become healthier and more fit in a wide variety of ways.  You may want health coaching or you could potentially be happy with ear seeds and cupping.  There are a lot of ways to approach your unique situation and I am excited to be a part of your wellness journey.

The best predictor of future success is rooted in past performance.  If you’ve tried and failed and tried and failed, stop.  Picture yourself at a reasonable weight, one that makes sense for you.  Imagine what it feels like to have body confidence and self respect and a healthy sense of self no matter your size.  Embrace the vision of yourself as a person in command of your own self esteem and self view.  Embody this vision, hold it close, and move steadily toward it until it becomes real and lasting.  You can do it!  The time to start is now.

When you come to see me, I can help you to map out a body positive weight adjustment journey. That can be weight loss, or that can be weight acceptance combined with general health enhancement.  What do you need and want?  We can choose some TCM strategies that will enhance your progress and work solely from that angle if you like.  You may want to combine your office visits with health coaching; in that case, I can help you to change your perspective and practices outside the treatment room.  Whatever we do, it will be respectful, affirming, and uplifting.  The decision to take the best care of your body and the journey to achieve your optimal weight and/or level of health  doesn’t have to be a torture.  In reality, it can be a lot of fun and a genuine opportunity for life lessons and joy.  Truly!

We all have a body.  Are you ready to love yours?
